Sun City Pickleball Club
If you are a resident of Sun City, Las Vegas NV, we invite you to become a member of the Club. The Club offers many activities including Open Play, tournaments, clinics, round robin events, pickle skills sessions, meetings, a picnic, and a holiday party.
Court Use
The 10 newly resurfaced Desert Vista pickleball courts are for Sun City resident use only (55+ community). Residents and club members must check in at the Desert Vista fitness monitor desk or sign in on the club roster before entering the courts. Residents may invite family and friend guests to play on the courts. They must get guest passes by checking in with their association card at the Desert Vista Fitness monitor station. Guests under the age of 19 must be accompanied by the club member and children under the age of 15 will not be allowed to play during Club Play.
Club Open Play
Open Play is held every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings. Winter hours: 8:00 - 11:00 am. Summer Hours: 7:00 - 10:00 am. Players set up doubles games on the ten courts. The losing team exits the court and places their paddles in the holder. First two paddles in the holder then enter the court, and the game begins. Three courts are designated for Challenge Play during Open Play where advanced players may compete in doubles games.
Beginner Play
Are you just learning pickleball? Club members hold orientations introducing you to pickleball. We have paddles that you can use, and balls are provided. Then attend a beginner clinic. Novice Practice & Play sessions are every Thursday 1:00 pm (winter) or 6:00 pm (summer). Join in with social play every day at 1:00 pm (winter) or 6:00 pm (summer). However, all levels play during Club Open Play. We also can introduce you to pickleball instructors who can provide you lessons. To schedule an orientation, contact President Suzanne Esber.
Senior Play
Oldies But Goodies play takes place every Thursday at 11:00 am. These games are for the 80+ year old's who enjoy getting together for pickleball play at a more moderate pace. For more information, contact Joan Ladley at (303) 903-5607. You are welcome to just show up and join in.
Scheduling Pickleball Games
Any Sun City resident or club member may use the courts at times other than Open Play. Players must check-in with their Association cards at the Desert Vista Fitness Monitor to obtain a key and schedule their play. One of the ten courts is almost always available for game play. Guests of Sun City residents are also welcome to play; however, they must check-in and obtain a guest pass from the Fitness Monitor.
Other Events/Activities
The Club holds round robin events during the year including Winterfest, Friday Night Lights, and Halloween PickleBoo. We enjoy getting together for a picnic in the spring and holiday party in December. We host two charity tournaments a year where club members and outside players join in for Mixed, Men's and Women's Doubles play. We also put on "pickle skills sessions" and clinics for club members. We get together with other 55+ clubs for intramural play. We also hold a club tournament.
Club Meetings
2025 Club meetings will be held February 13, May 8, September 9, and November 13 (which is the annual meeting and elections). We discuss matters of the club and offer a program presentation.
